Native Influence

Join us for this unique opportunity to explore all the variety and creativity that New Mexico has to offer—you’ll have the chance to experience the special magic that has drawn artists to New Mexico for generations. We’ll settle into our Workshop week with a stroll & dinner in the historic Old Town Plaza for Saturday’s arrival, followed by a visit to the Indian Pueblo Culture Center on Sunday. Midweek, enjoy a trip to Santa Fe, and spend the day visiting museums and wandering through galleries and shops in the City Different—choose from historic Canyon Road, Museum Hill, the Railyard District or the historic Plaza area. You’ll be surrounded by plenty of inspiration wherever you decide to go! Our Native Influence workshop will focus on work created by Native American artists past and present responding to the environment that is unique to New Mexico. Discover the culture that fostered these artists and why they created the works that they did. Projects will feature a variety of techniques and mediums, and the opportunity to experience indigenous methods and process firsthand. Play with collage, explore fresh mixed media techniques, create work from realism to abstract design—no matter what form your art takes, you’ll be inspired and motivated.

The Casas de Suenos Historic Inn located next to Old Town Albuquerque will provide lodging for our workshop week. Originally an artist’s residence, the inn features quiet private casitas, beautiful garden courtyards, a chef-prepared breakfast, and is within easy walking distance to Old Town, museums, parks, and more. See www.casasdesuenos.com for more; Casitas will be double occupancy (two bedroom areas) with a kitchenette and shared bath; private casitas are available for an additional cost. The Art Adventure is limited to eight participants, ensuring plenty of space, personal attention, and hands-on art opportunity. The fee of $1,495 does not include airfare to and from Albuquerque. Your fee will include all lodging and meals and group activities, and all project supplies. All group travel (including to and from the Albuquerque airport) is at no additional cost. A nonrefundable deposit of $495 is required by October 2, 2017 to reserve your space, and we offer a flexible payment plan for the remainder of your fee, which is due by December 31, 2017. We’re very excited about this nature-focused Art Adventure—more art fun and exploration awaits us in the “Land of Enchantment”. As always, feel free to contact me with any comments or questions you may have.
